can someone tell me what this device is??

see the show ver output attached. I do not see any physical interfaces in the sh interfaces output.

sh module does not work. If you need more info let me know. Thanks,

MSFC running 12.1(8a)E5

Show module will work if you are connected to the SUP

What IOS is this switch meant to be running ?

Is it native or hybrid ? ie. do you run IOS for the whole switch or CatOS on the switch and IOS on the MSFC ?

are you actually at the command prompt on the switch. If so can you post "sh ip int brief".

Edit - oh yes, in answer to your question it is a 6000/6500 switch.
