It depends on the application, the 3800 can do certain things the 6500 cannot do, and vice-versa.
So as always the case in professional networking, you need to be very specific.

Possibly. Much depends on interfaces being used and what features are required.

If interface is other than Ethernet, you'll might use a FlexWAN or SIP-200/400 card populated with the correct interface.

interface types issues have been covered by Joseph but as Paolo has noted without information on what the C3800 is doing or was doing it is not possible to answer.
post last configuration of C3800 device to see this.
