Can you setup a 4ESW port to be in promiscuous mode on a 1841? My network is having issues and I want to setup Wireshark and find out what exactely is causing the problems. For Wireshark to work I need either a port on the 4ESW to send out all packets from the network or I need to place a hub between my network and main router. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
What you want is a span port, not promiscuous mode. Unfortunately the 4esw card doesn't support that, so you will need to hook up a switch that does, or build a splitter cable to capture traffic.
