Hi all,

I have a strange issue in the router. I can ping to the remote PE ip(10.220.170.1) but can't ping local CE ip(10.220.170.2). Do anyone have similar case before ?

Re: Cannot ping to self interface(UP, UP)

Hello Leung,

what type of interface is in use?

WAN interfaces when pinging their ip address send out the frame on wire.

for example ATM or serial interfaces.

Hope to help

Re: Cannot ping to self interface(UP, UP)

Hello Leung,

as I've explained on serial lines the packet with SA=DA=interface address should be sent out on the wire.

For example in the case of FR multipoint subinterface you may need an additional frame-rel map statement to be able to ping successfully.

I see you have an eBGP session over it that looks like working

if you don't see other issues you should be fine.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
