Cant get PVC to come up/up but ADSL is UP/UP

Hussein Nurbhai

Hi Guys and Girls,

I work for a Telco in the UK and we have a remote site connecting to a head end DC via an IP Stream service. What I cant figure out is that my PVC is Down/Down but my physical is UP/UP. This has worked OK before so I dont think its a config issue. I was wondering if there are any debug commands that can be done to help me isolate the issue. The ISP has advised of an F5 ping test and wanted to know what this meant?

Hello Hussein,

I wonder - is the oam-pvc manage command required on your ATM0/1/0.1 subinterface? Would the situation change if your removed it?

Also, can you post the output of the show interface atm0/1/0 , show controllers atm0/1/0 and show controllers dsl outputs?

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Ive taken it off and the PVC comes up but I cant ping the interface itself or the other end, it was on there when it was working so I doubt thats the issue.

P.S  - I think its a problem on the DSLAM but need to know what I can use to test....

Many Thanks,

Hello Hussein,

Try reading the following document:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0s/feature/guide/12satmpng.html

In your case, it would be interesting to try the command

ping atm interface atm 0/1/0.1 0 38

The oam-pvc manage command tries to send the F5 loopack test cells and it does not seem to receive back the response, thereby declaring PVC down. There indeed seems to be a problem with the DSLAM or its reachability. Oh, and how about the show dsl interface atm0/1/0?

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for the above. But I cant execute that command. Ive read the document and none of the commands are supported. The IOS is as per the requirements....
