Hi,

We are using cat 6506 with single SUP engine 2 now we planned to redunant SUP in that CAT 6506

whether the second SUP2 can be installed in Slot 1 and 2

and also when insert the second SUP 2 the module goes to below state

2 Catalyst 6000 supervisor 2 (Active) WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE

2 Catalyst 6000 supervisor 2 (Cold) WS-X6K-S2U-MSFC2

is this will be a problem when active goes down?

any difference between Slot0 and disk0

because i need to configure the same as existing Active SUP

thanks

Hello Vinoth,

the two supervisors look like to have different part numbers.

May you confirm you have two supervisor2 with MSFC2?

post a sh module for checking this.

Also IOS image should be the same to be able to use a redundancy strategy RPR or SSO.

Also is the chassis in Native mode or it is still in Hybrid mode?

When all parameters match the standby supervisor receives configuration from active supervisor.

You need to deploy first the right IOS image. (or catos image+ MSFC image if in Hybrid mode)

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Thanks for your reply

and also can we change the redunancy mode from RPR+ to SSO when the active and standby SUP's running in live

Hi,

The default redundancy mode is RPR so that's why you see the 2nd SUP in cold state. In this mode the standby SUP is not completely booted.

Yes you can change the redundancy mode on a live chassis. It will reload the standby SUP.
