Hi Experts
Looking for reason why I shouldn't switch to IOS on my 6506 box.
We got Two Sup on the box, is it possible to run One SUP on CatOS and another SUP on IOS.
Are they any tools to conver the config of CATOS to IOS
cheers

It all depends on you. Whatever floats your boat. If you (or anyone else) is comfortable using CatOS, then continue to do so. There are murmurs about Cisco deciding to end the development of CatOS but I have yet to see official announcement.

No. The reason is redundancy. The configuration of a CatOS card and and IOS card are not the same.

Hi ,
This totally depends on how you manage your Network, but if your have 2 sup's and keep 2 different images which is catos and IOS it would effect the redudancy configuration and thus the down time.
There are 3 kinds of redudancy configurations RPR, RPR+ and SSO, In which SSO takes the least time to switch over in case of a failover which is 2 seconds and SSO switchover depends on the sup configuration which means it needs alike configuration down to the IOS version. ie. For SSO redudancy mode you need the same IOS and IOS version. If a different IOS version then it would fall down to RPR or RPR+ which has 30 seconds of switch over time.
Hope this helps!

podhillo.
