channelized 2 - T1 frame relay circuits in 2811 routers

Hi,

I'm trying to connect one of my company site back to its head quarter. The site has 1 2811 router, and 2 of T1 frame relay circuits connected back to head quarter. Each T1 circuit is connect to WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 card on 2811 router.

Can I channelized these 2 T1 frame relay circuits to become 1 logical connection? What is the configuration for it? Or does it require a special card?

Thank so lot. I really need help on this.

Tung.

Hi Tung,

You can't combine the two T1s at a physical layer but you can use Multilink PPP so that they appear as a single logival circuit. This is a software feature and does not require any additional hardware.

Here's an example of how you could do this:

Router 1

========

interface Multilink1

ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

!

interface Serial0

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

!

interface Serial1

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

Router 2

========

interface Multilink1

ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0

no cdp enable

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

!

interface Serial0

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

!

interface Serial1

no ip address

encapsulation ppp

ppp multilink

ppp multilink group 1

Hope that helps - pls do remember to rate posts that help.

Hi Paresh,

But the circuits I have is frame-relay T1 with DLCI # for every PVC. Can I still implement Multilink PPP over frame-relay circuit?

Thank so lot.

Tung,

You can run MLPPP over FR links. Check out this link:
