CHAP configuration

To setup PPP authentication, we use "router1 (config) # username router2 password cisco" which is set in a GLOBAL configuration. What if we have more than one destination? Just type more of this command and then it will try all of them in order? Or it will determine by the destination hostname and use that associated password? How routers know the destination hostname in PPP? Or we need to issue this command in interface configuration mode that use PPP link instead of issuing the command in global configuration mode?

You can define the account at the interface level with the command 'ppp chap hostname'.
