Cisco IOS has support for being DNS server.
But 17xx, now about 14 yeras old, may be too old for that.

Grazie 1000!!!

You should get a new router for better service. In the meanwhile, you can try updating IOS.

Hi Donato,
Paolo is correct to go for IOS upgrade. While upgrading go for the IOS 12.3 as this feature has been introduced thereafter.
For the configuration,
Router(config)#ip dns server
Router(config)#ip name-server ?
A.B.C.D Domain server IP address (maximum of 6)
X:X:X:X::X Domain server IP address (maximum of 6)
Note:It doesn't act as recursive lookup rather than it forward to the upstream DNS server which will do a recursive lookup for you.
