I found a 2501 router with two serial interfaces and one eth (AUI). It has 4MB flash and 1024K of main memory. It's running IOS 10.2(6). I would like to use it for my CCNA labs. Any chance I could upgrade the IOS in it to something more reasonable?
Here's the output of "show version":

You will need to upgrade both RAM and Flash. 12.0 requires 6 DRAM/8 Flash at a bare minimum. Check out ebay, you should find upgrades pretty cheap. I believe they max out at 16/16.

ph0enix,
I also vaguely recall that you need to upgrade the bootroms to go to or above 11.0.1
They were a freebie from Cisco on a covered unit. We did some but don't have any extras.

I vaguely remember that you needed the bootroms for y2k :-)
God forbid the network not have the right time on it :-)

Thanks guys! I have two 2600's (2651 and 2610 to be precise) that I can use so I don't want to put any $$$ into the 2501.
