Hi.

As usual finding information is quite difficult.

I am in the same situation crying on my shoulders.

Take a look at following link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/interfaces/ic/hardware/installation/guide/oview_ic.html

It says EHWIC are supported on x900 series ruoters. So no way to see working this card on x800 series routers.

The interesting thing is that at boot, the card is seen (use serial connection to connect to console)...

Smart Init is enabled

smart init is sizing iomem

  ID            MEMORY_REQ                 TYPE

0003E7          0X00474800 C2811 Mainboard

000446          0X00123E00 HWIC Serial 16A

00053B          0X000C2800 2-port FE HWIC

0006C3          0X00364800 EHWIC-3G-HSPA+7

                0X00264050 Onboard VPN

                0X000021B8 Onboard USB

                0X002C29F0 public buffer pools

                0X00211000 public particle pools

But issuing a show inventory command, the card is not seen.

Then issuing a show diag command:

        WIC Slot 3:

        3G EHWIC-QuadBand HSPA+R7/HSPA/UMTS QuadBand EDGE/GPRS and GPS

WIC module not supported/disabled in this slot

        PCB Serial Number        : FOC16134DN6

I hope Cisco will fix this situation, but I am not sure... There is no interest on make working EHWIC on older routers.

The only solution is buying on ebay a cheap used 1900 series router.

Best regards.

Giorgio.

Thanks mate

I have figured it

So EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U  works   with ISR G2 and  EHWIC-3G-HSPA-G with ISR

so at the end if there U it is for 1900,2900,3900 and If it has G at the  end  it;s  for 1800,2800,3800 series routers

Thanks

Dear mate you misunderstood me.

The last letter identify the localization of the card.

About our common problem, that is because EHWIC cards are supported only on 1900, 2900, 3900 routers!

While x900 series is able to suprt HWIC & EHWIC card, the x800 series routers support only HWIC cards!

So we bought the wrong product for ours routers.

So interpreting at opposite direction, following link:

HWIC-3G-HSPA

3G HWIC (Non-US) HSPA/UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz; Quad-band 2G

EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U=

3.5G EHWIC (Non-US) HSPA/UMTS 850/900/1900/2100MHz SMS/GPS

-

For your router you should have bought the HWIC-3G-HSPA, instead of EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U= actually on your hands.

Be carefull, that non all services offered by the EHWIC-3G-HSPA-U= are present on HWIC-3G-HSPA.

So, please, take a deep read on datasheets, before buying a new card.

I hope I was helpful and clear enough.

Bye from Italy.

Giorgio.
