cisco 3640 series router

some times only when i ping any website,im getting the error

" % Unrecognized host or address, or protocol not running".

then i can ping all the websites once my router is restarted.

plz tel me what may be the problem?

i have given correctly the following commands,

ip domain lookup

ip name-server command.

You have not given us much detail to work with. But if there are time when the router can not resolve the name, my first question would be whether a ping by IP address rather than by name would work?

If there are problems in resolving names and the problem is solved by restarting the router, then my first guess at the problem would be an issue with memory. Perhaps the router is running low on memory or perhaps the memory is very fragmented and that creates a problem.

when the problem occurs try to check:

-ip table (sho ip route)

-interfaces status (sho ip interf brief)

-CPU or memory usage (sho process memo, sho process cpu

-log (sho logging)
