Cisco 3700

Hi,

I have a problem with our Cisco 3700 router. It's currently setup for dialer map, the entries look like this

ip route 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.224 10.10.10.2

ip route 10.10.10.2 255.255.255.255 dialer1

int dialer 10.10.10.2 username password etc

We no longer want to do this we want the route to goto another router at head office.

ip route 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0 1.1.1.14

However when I do

sh ip route 10.10.10.1 it says no route.

but if I do it on the orginal config it displays the route.

hope it makes sense.

Re: Cisco 3700

Hi Peter,

Do you have a route for 1.1.1.14? Check this route first cause if this route is not available you will not be able to reach 10.10.10.1.

In original config it shows the route because you also have the ststic route for 10.10.10.2 which is the next hop for 10.10.10.1.

Also your previous route has a longer subnet mask so it will be more favourable. Can you remove the old route first and check that you also have the route for 1.1.1.14. If you don't have the route for 1.1.1.14 go ahead and add this route and you will see 10.10.10.1 in your routing table.

no ip route 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.224 10.10.10.2

HTH, if yes please rate the post.
