as i noticed in the 3750 IOS, the ports are mentioned as stacknumber/module/port, and the module number is always set to 0. my question is, why the module number is mentioned in the 3750 while it's not a modular switch and we can't add more modules to it. why it was not mentioned as stacknumber/port for example?
I suspect it was just carried across from the other IOS switches such as 3500, 3550, etc. They all use the mod/port convention even though there are no optional mods. I'm sure it's just easier as they convert more and more devices to IOS to have a standard of always having a mod/port convention.
Of course, for the real answer you would probably have to talk to the DEs. This is just my $0.02.
