CISCO 3845 ISDN dialup issue

Hi All,

I have a problem in configuring Cisco 3845.

The history of the problem is as follows:

We have a Cisco 3745 router used for making ISDN data connections to our branches accross Europe.

This router has got some hardware problem and we wanted to replace it.

As Cisco does not have 3745 anymore, we were suggested to use 3845 which is next model.

I have also plugged in a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 card.

I have a 2Mb E1 line (30 ISDN channels).

I have copied the config from my old router and pasted to the new router.

I had to make few changes in the new router - like:

wic, card type controller etc...

I have also changed the dialer configuration to represent Gigabit e0/0 to replace F0/0

I could not ping any of my ISDN routers at remote sites.

The router does not even try to dial the numbers.

show isdn history does not show anything.

Also show dialer interface dialer <number> states, it never dialed.

I have tried to change encapsulation for Serial interface to ppp from HDLC, it is displaying an error stating,

Hardware does not support the encapsulation.

Could you please help me in resolving this issue with the router?

I am attaching the router config here.

Thanks & Regards,

Sasibindu

Hi,

I am getting a basic doubt now. Am I using a worng card itself?

Can VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 work for ISDN Data dialup?

Or will it work for Voice only?

Please help me?

Thanks & Regards,

Sasibindu
