Cisco 877 Unnumbered

I am trying to set up an 877 in unnumbered mode. The DSL line comes up fine and from the router console I can ping the outside just fine, but nothing on the inside will pass through. I am thinking it might be an ACL that must be implemented but cannot see anything missing. My config is attached.

I forgot to mention that the atm0 was shutdown in the config that I posted, but when I do enable that interface, the same problem continues.

Re: Cisco 877 Unnumbered

Hi ,

Can you remove dialer-group 1 from dialer interface and dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit from global config..

*** check the pvc value and also confirm that your ISP uses PAP

below links gives details about how to configure PPPoA and how to trouble shoot ppp link.

Re: Cisco 877 Unnumbered

Not to stomp on Satish or anything, but dont do what he suggested. The important thing to notice here is that the "DSL line comes up, and you can ping the outside just fine".

Now, there is a more obvious thing I see missing in the config:

interface FastEthernet0

!

interface FastEthernet1

!

interface FastEthernet2

!

interface FastEthernet3

!

interface Vlan1

no ip address

!

Where is the config for the inside? If you expect the router to route, you need to give it to places to route between.

Go here and configure the things that aren't yet in your config:

Re: Cisco 877 Unnumbered

Yeah, I don't think removing the dialer group is the way to go. I have been thinking about this for a couple of days now, and I thought about the lack of internal settings. I don't want to use DHCP or NAT but simply want the LAN ports to use the Dialer0 interface as their default gateway. Is making a bridge between the two the way to do this or I am I heading the wrong direction? I appreciate your help thus far and any future pointers.

Re: Cisco 877 Unnumbered

Unless you've purchased a bunch of IPs from your provider, you're going to need NAT to translate your internal network to a single IP on the outside.

If there will only be a single PC on the inside, or you have another router/firewall handling those features, you can configure the router in pure bridging mode.
