I see the problem now.

Your 877w does not have a valid IOS image to boot from, thus your router does not accept any command because it have no "operating system".

Your router enters in ROMmon mode and you are unable to issue any IOS command. You have to upload a valid IOS image for your router trough the xmodem method described here:

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a008015bfac.shtml

This is not a specific guideline for 877w but may be you can use this method to fix your problem.

Good luck.

but the steps can say can support for my cisco 877w router?

in this link:

"Xmodem Console Download Procedure Using ROMmon"

i using the steps for "Xmodem Procedure for Downloading a Cisco IOS Software Image onto a Cisco 3600 Router"

when i at steps 3, "After setting the hyperterminal, you receive a rommon prompt." it didn't. i have to shut down the router & turn it on by manual even i type "reset" at end of step 1 which the router restart automatically. (does it got any affect on it?)

after i restart by manual, it comes the prompt. then i type xmodem -c . which i did. so until end of steps 3 is ok. no problem.

but coming end of steps 4 which i browse the cisso IOS file, and click "send", it comes the message:"no response from remote system".

Try using tftpdnld as it is way faster than xmodem.

so from step 1 till step 4 passes already.

but at the beginning of step 5 which entering "return" key, and type: "Router> enable", it show the error message:

"Output redirection  is not supported at this level"

what is the meaning of this error message?

can see the attachment picture which posted.

its still in rommon so you need to enter 'boot flash:' command to boot it and then proceed with step 5

from step 1 to step 4 all success as you can see the previous picture. but why still cannot even i type "boot flash" command.

Hello,

Asuming you have a valid IOS image on flash yet. Can you try this, please?

set boot-action=flash
set file-name=
set ios-conf=0x2102
save
boot

Good luck

i successfuly can boot the router. now i at almost the midway of steps 5. here the problem come:

at almost at mid of step 5,

"Router(config)#configure terminal"

when the word of "configure", the character, "e", when i type full command and enter for next command, its comes out with this "^" symbol. i don't know how to delete it. but i didn't type that character. it say, cannot go due "^". when i type out, it comes like this:

                                  ^

"Router(config)#configure terminal"

as you can see the picture.

Hello,

You are already in the configure mode. So, you do not need to enter

"configure terminal" again.

Regards,

NT

means i can skip the command: "Router(config)#configure terminal", correct?

Hello,

Yes.

Regards,

NT

after i enter the command"Router(config-line)# speed 9600" at end of step 5, it goes to the next blank column.

does i need to change the speed to 9600 by manually? means i disconnect & reconnect to 9600 bps by previous create or brand new create?

Hello,

Yes, disconnect the current session, and create a new one with the speed

9600.

Regards,

NT
