Cisco 881-SEC-K9 has BGP and OSPF but no EIGRP

Just got a new CISCO881-SEC-K9 which should come with Advanced IP Services Feature set and include EIGRP, DMVPN .... (CISCO881-K9 only has Adv. Security)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/data_sheet_c78_459542.html

BGP, OSPF, DMVPN commands are working, but

router(config)#router eigrp 1

Protocol not in this image

...

router#sh ip ospf 1

Routing Process "ospf 1" with ID 172.16.4.4

Start time: 00:00:24.768, Time elapsed: 01:11:35.372

Supports only single TOS(TOS0) routes

....

IOS Version is: c880data-universalk9-mz.124-22.T.bin

(This "great" new universal IOS with licensing features ... )

router#sh license feature

Feature name Enforcement Evaluation Clear Allowed Enabled

advipservices yes yes yes no

advsecurity no no yes yes

Any idea what's wrong with the device? If advipservices is not enabled, why BGP and OSPF are working?

Are all description at the internet shops are wrong and SEC-K9 does not have Adv IP Serv.?

I don't have a smartnet contract for this device type, but is there any contact at cisco to ask/tell about this problem?

Thanks for help!

The Advanced Ip services feature set is an optional software upgrade component and hence must be specifically requested while ordering

By default the box coems with an advanced security image which does not support EIGRP (see table 6)

Hello Narayan,

thanks for your reply!

If you search for CISCO881-SEC-K9 you'll see, that this is special release which already includes Adv. IP Services.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5854/product_data_sheet0900aecd8022e567_ps380_Products_Data_Sheet.html

Search for 881-SEC on this page:

CISCO881-SEC-K9        Cisco 881 Ethernet Sec Router w/ Adv IP Services

router#sh license udi

Device#   PID                   SN              UDI

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

*0        CISCO881-SEC-K9       FCZ12446xxx     CISCO881-SEC-K9:FCZ12446xxx

And why do BGP, OSPF and DMVPN/NHRP work and only EIGRP doesn't.

As of table 6 all of them are only included in Adv. IP Services.

Hi,

I never done this, but seems like you need to convert the license UDI to a PAK using a cisco URL. All details:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/3800/software/activation/swact.html

And more:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/white_paper_c11_499859.html

Hi,

thanks for this hint. I've checked all these sites, installed License Manager but I couldn't find any way getting a licence from the device ID/SN without a PAK code. I don't want a demo lic because I already paid for included Adv. IP Serv.

Also this doesn't explain why most Adv. IP Serv. Features work and only EIGRP doesn't.

I've spend hours now figuring out what's wrong now. Now I assume these cisco guys are so busy getting ther licensing crap working und simply forgot to compile EIGRP into the image.

Seems that I have to buy a smartnet contract for this 800 type to ask them about that. :(

Hi, I had misread the docs, sorry. Agree that is a very complicated method.

What I can tell you is that if you're patient and work with the distributor, cisco customer service will give you a way to fully enable the router  without a smartnet contract.

I say that because the last "no" in the table leads me to think that support is there but need to be enabled.
