Cisco 890 router configuration

Hey everyone, I was just doing some research for potential replacements of some of our older routers and noticed the 890W. We currently have a large number of 1941 routers deployed. I am looking for some options for smaller branch offices as I don't want to waste a 1941 on a 5 person office.

One thing that I came across was that the 890 is a "fixed-configuration" router. Does this mean it doesn't offer a CLI or any of the other normal IOS features that would allow me to configure it myself?

Cisco 890 router configuration

Hi,

fixed configuration means you can't add  or change any module to it. You can use CLI and the features are IOS and licence specific.

Cisco 890 router configuration

Hi Alain, thanks for clearing that up. I was under the false impression that fixed configuration would mean the software is "fixed" similar to a residential Linksys or Netgear router where you can't change much.

I am a CLI guy and wouldn't be able to deal with that scenario.
