So we have a Cisco infrastructure. We have Cisco 2800 Series at our main building - "call it main building" - and Cicso 3560 PoE switch. Another site - call it "site B" - is the same with 2800 router and 3560 switch. At site B, users would report losing VoIP phone as well as computer connectivity intermittently. I could look at the statistics at each port on each switch/router and tell how many packets are being dropped. What method have you guys used to discover connectivity issues with VoIP phone as well PC connectivity? Thanks! -J

How is the phone powered up? PoE or power bricks?
What does the switch's log show when the VoIP phones loose connectivity?
Problem is only affecting Site "B"?
Are the switch port configs of "Main" the same as "B"?
Are the users complaining the same ones or all over the place?
Have you tried using the 3560's TDR to check the cabling?

How is the phone powered up? PoE or power bricks?
->PoE
What does the switch's log show when the VoIP phones loose connectivity?
->Packet drop
Problem is only affecting Site "B"?
->there is another site, but I want to focus on B right now.
Are the switch port configs of "Main" the same as "B"?
->B is being routed to "main"
Are the users complaining the same ones or all over the place?
->Kind of all over the place. We thought that the WIC cards on the router on main was the problem. According to our PRTG, there are still network drops.
Have you tried using the 3560's TDR to check the cabling?

Thanks for the quick response.
So the logs only show packet drops and nothing about Layer 1 issues, am I correct?
Can you post the configs of your switch?

I could do that, but I want to do that fun stuff...hahaha. I'll go back to the OSI as this article suggest...http://www.petri.co.il/layer-by-layer-troubleshooting-cisco.htm

Hi J,
Do all the users at site-B loose connectivity at the same time?
Has this worked before or it is a new implantation?
Are you using Cisco Phones or other venders phones?
