Cisco MPLS Redistribute Static and Redistribute Connected'

Hello Experts,

Can someone please tell the difference between  using the 'redistribute connected' and 'redistribute static' when  configuring static routing between a PE and CE in an MPLS network?

Cheers

So experts,

In addition to my original question how can I tell what interface is connected to 79.99.196.76 in the following configuration?

ip route vrf customerA 79.99.195.144 255.255.255.240 79.99.196.76

The above configuration allows the static network 79.99.195.144 255.255.255.240 via ip address 79.99.193.76. The ip address will typically be the customers CE router. Is there a way of determining what interface on the PE is connected to the CE router with the ip address 79.99.193.76?

Cheers

Hi,

The distribution applies to protocols like OSPF, ISIS, BGP, etc.. and not MPLS.  Redistribute connected basically redistribute the connected physical and/or logical interfaces for that specific router you are doing the redistribution.  redistribute static redistribute static routes or default route to the routing protocol.  If for example a CE has static routes configured towards a specific network and also peers with a provider via OSPF or BGP, these static routes need to be redistributed to OSPF or BGP to be reachable from remote networks.
