Things I tried? 1) Loaded same image file through XMODEM, worked fine, but when I reload the Router the same output comes up 2) Tried the config-register command to try to fix the register but no success.

Question: Is the password recovery process the same for this Router model?

Thanks in advanced.

Re: Cisco Router 2801 does not boot IOS

First be sure the flash is full inserted you normally get a different message if it does not exist but if it is not 100% in you can get strange errors.

If it is looping like this you need to force it into rommon which i suspect you did if you tried to change the config register.

Use tftpdnld from the rommon to try to replace the image. If you get a error use the -r option this will load the image to ram and boot the router. Once you get to this point see if you can tftp a image with the IOS. If not try to format the flash. There are many more files than just the boot image on the flash and if you use the gui interface you will need to replace these. Normally if you can format the flash from the ios you will be able to tftp a image to it

If all else fail these routers use a class c file system which is the same as a pc uses. You can place the flash in a pc adapter and read and write the files with a pc. If you get errors in a pc then you have a bad flash card.

Friend,

The boot process is indicating that it is not able to find a valid file system.

Try formatting the flash and then load the IOS.

If this also fails then you probably have a defective flash card.
