CISCO881W-GN-E-K9 vs. C881W-GN-E-K9

Does anybody know what's the difference between these routers?

For example, the CISCO881G-K9 has a 3.5G ExpressCard Modem and the C881G has an embedded one with GPS and 3.7G in most versions. The C881G is, for all I know, the newer one.

But for the two mentioned above, I can't find any differences at all. The C881 is listed in the Teleworking section of the data sheet. But there is no information whatsoever about any feature or license differences.

Google also wasn't very helpful.

They are both the same. It is just one located under Ethernet section and the other one under SRST

I'm going to use the the 881 as a hardware VPN client. The endpoint is an ASA 5505.

I wan't to secure the access to the VPN on the router with 802.1x

Initially I wanted to use an ASA as client, but the ASA doesn't support 802.1x on the build in switch and the 880 routers support 802.1x for all I know and if I understood this page right.

I know the ASA has a feature called "Individual User Authentication" but, 802.1x with doesn't require any user interaction, which is a concern in this installation.

The C881W is fanless and has 512MB RAM.

The CISCO881W has one fan and has 256MB RAM.

The thread is already a bit old, but as time flies Cisco has put together this EOL statement:

However not mentioned there is the C881W-GN-E-K9, but according to the page with the naming conventions (thanks Vishwas) the letters -GN- are not important so I suppose that is why Cisco dropped them.
