CMTS Downstream Load-Sharing

Hello all,

More of just a general functionality question on a UBR7246. How well does Downstream load sharing work? We have several locations that are running out of downstream bandwidth and would like to just send a second downstream channel to them.

The configuration and wiring I can get, I would just like some info on how well it works in the real world and possibly what issues may arise. Are most people using DCC with it, or are they static load balancing? This would be a mixed environment for Docsis modems, everything from 1.0 to 2.0 and VOIP.

Thanks for your replies

Cisco wideband uses the "packet bonding" technique that is described in the DOCSIS® 3.0 specification. Packets are transmitted out the various channels in round robin fashion. Sequence numbers are applied, and the wideband cable modem reorders the packets if they arrive out of order.

Was more looking at a Docsis 1.0 or 1.1 solution such as this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/cable/cmts/troubleshooting_batch9/cmtslbg.html
