Configuration Problems on a 1720 (used as a lns)

We have a 1720 router (12.3) terminating a hanfull (<10) lt2p sessions for a test subdomain for dialup. The problems is that most windows users are unable to browse webpages, view https etc. They also state there connection is also slow.

I have managed a quick fix, by implementing a proxy server for port 80 and https and now they can view these pages and connect with thie i messaging.

We have limited success with drtcp to change the mtu, but this seems the be the best answer so far. I have tried to research the problem and so far have ended up no better then when I started. I know I am missing something but cant put my finger on it.

Is there a way to force all traffic on port 80 etc to go through an external proxy to avoid users having to set a proxy setting in there windows configuration.

On linux if we set the mtu ot 576 we dont have an dramas at all.

This is the current configuration from the router/lns

local name L2.dial.XXXXXXXX.XXX

lcp renegotiation on-mismatch

ip mtu adjust

Thanks in advance for you help
