Configure 2801 with Multipoint Port Channel

Hi All

Is it possible to configure a Cisco 2801 router with Multipoint Port Channeling?

A service provider dropped a 4.5Mbps ( 3x T1s ) to one of our customers without any equipment. They assume the CPE responsible.

If so we would appreciate any links to documentation on this configuration. If not, what device will they need to buy from Cisco that can bundle these 3 T1s together then feed it into their router?

Thanks all,

Tom

Configure 2801 with Multipoint Port Channel

Hi Tom,

Since the 2800 is being replaced by the 2900 series, you can get a 2921 with 4 port T1 module and terminated all your connection in this modules:  I am assuming they gave you 3 copper (RJ45) connections.

here is the data sheet::

Also, here is the data sheet for the 3900 series routers.

Its called multilink...Generally Port channel refers to multiple links (ehternet based) betweeen switches.

Configure 2801 with Multipoint Port Channel

Reza we aren't looking for a new router. What I want to know if it the "multilink", as vmiller stated, can be configured on a 2801 with 3 WIC-1DSU-T1-V2.

Vmiller, do you know if that link you sent me will work on a 2801?

In that case then you can use multilink PPP to bundle them together:

have a look at this example:

Of course it can. It's a Cisco router, have you considered ?

Tip: for your networking needs, do not try DIY, hire a professional instead. You will be spared wasted time and frustation, and your business will enjoy guranteed professional results.

Re: Configure 2801 with Multipoint Port Channel

Its pretty generic, more a function of what interfaces are available.

ppp multilink has been around for a while.

If you have a go on your own, make sure you understand the concepts behind the configuration.

Paolos remarks are based on experience.
