LAN with servers and workstations, fixed IP addresses
Require WAN connection to fibre Media Converter (will be swapped out for ME 3400 at later stage)
Trying to figure out the basic configuration to route traffic to and from the internet.
I have set VLan1 with the internal gateway IP (all workstations will show this as the default gateway) and can now connect via one of the Gigabit Ports.
Where I am getting stuck is configuring the WAN side. I assume that I use Gigabit8 or Gigabit9? This will require the default gateway setting as the ISP router.
Any help would be appreciated, as setting one of these up is something we will probably do only once every ten years :-)
I now have the following configuration. From any workstation I can ping xx.190.179.33 but not xx.214.22.166
interface GigabitEthernet8 no ip address shutdown duplex auto speed auto ! interface GigabitEthernet9 description WAN ip address XX.214.22.166 255.255.255.252 ip nat outside ip virtual-reassembly in duplex auto speed auto ! interface Vlan1 description LAN ip address XX.190.179.33 255.255.255.240 ip nat inside ip virtual-reassembly in ! ip forward-protocol nd ip http server ip http authentication local no ip http secure-server ip http timeout-policy idle 60 life 86400 requests 10000 ! ! ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 XX.214.220.165
