I currently have a frame relay wan kicking. and are trying to hook up a cablemodem to the ethernet port. here is the configuration: wan (frame relay) on s/o . ethernet 0 has local lan, and I want to connect the private cable network to the other ethernet,I have to provide the ip address. how would this configuration look like? also I have 19 locations to connect.

Re: configuring cable modem to work with 1841

Hi Thomas,

The cable modem(CM) should obtain the IP address from the CMTS. CM will receive an Private IP address from CMTS for WAN link and PCs connected will receive Public IPs. This is all done via DHCP and no configuration is required.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers

Vivek
