configuring switch module on 3800

Hi,

We have 16 port switching module on 3800 ISR with the following configuration.

Fa0/1 - 10.1.1.1 / 24 ( LAN ).

Fa 0/0 - WAN - ISP connectivity.

Subnet for LAN is 10.1.1.0 /24. How do we configure this switch module to support this LAN subnet, all hosts has default gateway of 10.1.1.1. That is how do we logically connect switch module to fa 0/0 port of router.

Is it so that, switch module logically act as another L3 interface. With L2 switch connected to it. So that VLAN ip address of that module will be default gateway of all hosts conncted to that switch.

Please share the experience.

Any link on configuring switch module on cisco.com is appreciable.

Thanks in advance.

Move all configuration from fa0/1 to vlan1.

Connect PCs to swithc port module.

That's all.

Hi P. Bevilacqua,

Thanks for your update. That means Vlan1 is in itself another L3 interface. Which can take part in routing. If we move all configuaration of Fa0/1 to Vlan1 it will take part in routing plus Fa0/1 interface will be free for another use.

Thanks
