I am trying to configure WCCP on my 6513 switch and use my management VLAN as the interface with that particular IP address as the WCCP router IP address(i.e IP Unnumbered) however I am getting his error:

DP6513(config)#int lo255

DP6513(config-if)#ip unnu

DP6513(config-if)#ip unnumbered vlan 1

Point-to-point (non-multi-access) interfaces only

I am running 12.2(18)SXF3

Re: Configuring WCCP

Hi

" remember that the ip unnumbered command works on point-to-point interfaces only. When you configure the command on the Multiaccess interface (that is, Ethernet) or the loopback interface, the following messages are displayed:

RouterA(config)# int e0

RouterA(config-if)# ip unnumbered serial 0

Point-to-point (non-multi-access) interfaces only

RouterA(config-if)# ip unnumbered loopback 0

Point-to-point (non-multi-access) interfaces only "

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Re: Configuring WCCP

The error message says it all really. You can only use "ip unnumbered" on a point-to-point interface and both ethernet and the loopback are counted as multi-access. See attached link for more details
