Connectivity of PPP and Ethernet

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the connectivity of 02 sites.

Currently we have 64 Kbps channel between sites using PPP.

currently connecting interfaces on both sides are V.35

Now this channel is going to upgrade to 2Mbps.

Site A contains the Cisco 2611 XM with serial interface with encapsulation PPP.

Now provider on other site ( site B ) is providinbg us the ethernet interface.

Now my question is can i connect both sides using the below connectivity type

Site A ( V.35 interface encapsulation PPP)

Site B ( Rj45 interface encapsulation Ethernet)

if it is not possible do i need the ethernet to v.35 interface ?

Please suggest me that how can i make this link working

Re: Connectivity of PPP and Ethernet

That is certainly not going to work. There must have been a mis-understanding in communicating the type of service by your provider. You simply cannot have ethernet termination at one end and PPP at the other unless you are getting some sort of L3 service.

Re: Connectivity of PPP and Ethernet

Ok i got it

So we will ask provider to give us E1 signaling line.

and then we will convert it in to E1 to V.35 converter.

I think this solution will work.?

What do you think?

Please help me.

Re: Connectivity of PPP and Ethernet

That is correct. Get the provider to deliver an E1 circuit with v.35 termination on the NTU.

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
