CPU high on 3825 router due to interrupts

Hi Experts,

I have done CPU profiling on the router showing high CPU due to interrupts and this is what i get;

Interrupt [05] = 000000005 (00 percent

Is there anyhow, i can interpret this and find out exactly what chewing up the CPU?

CPU utilization due to interrupts almost always means that the router is behaving as expected, based on the traffic and features configured. So it may be just reaching the limits of its Capabilites.

show proc cpu and see which processes are taking the processor. Lookup the process on Cisco's site to see what the process is.

EX: you might find that IP Forwarding is taking a lot of CPU. In that case you may have a ton of process switched packets (packets with options, packets destined to the router itself, etc). Maybe CEF forwarding isn't on under such a situation.

EX2: You might find SNMP is eating CPU. Maybe some monitoring program is polling it heavily.
