Creating a virtual PPPoE server like a public ISP

Hi,

I'm trying to create an environment of virtual PPPoE server such as in public ISP.

Virtual ISP gives me one public IP 219.100.100.100 / 255.255.255.255 imitating like a "IP1 Service" of ISP.

And it gives me a PPPoE account and password too.

First, what IP address and subnet mask should I assign to Fa0/1 of PPPoE server.

Regards,

Tomoyuki

You don't need to run PPPoE to test DMVPN.

In fact, you don't need to test DMVPn neither.

It works well and there is no problem in using it.

Small routers like you can have, do not support PPPoE server.

Beside, why is you want to do that ?

Hi paolo bevilacqua,

Thank you for your reply.

>Small routers like you can have, do not support PPPoE server.

The version of my IOS is 12.4T AES so that supports PPPoE server.

Actually I didn't write it here but I have configured this scenario assigning 219.100.100.100 / 24 to Fa0/0 of PPPoE Client and 219.100.100.1 /24 to Fa0/1 of  PPPoE Server, and have succeeded to establish that's connection.

A internet VPN network composed of four points using another vender routers has been running.

All points are connected by PPPoE.

Then I'm going to change all routers to Cisco's one and to create DMVPN, but current VPN is runnning so I'm going to create a virtual environment to simulate a new VPN with new Cisco routers.

As a first step, I would like to create a PPPoE server using 2611XM.

I'v succeeded to establish PPPoE connection but the IP setting is not real one (subnet mask is wrong).

I would like to create a real "IP1 service" of ISP as much as possible.

Hi,

You are quite right, but don't say that please...

I'm very anxious to create an environment same as my current network as much as possible.

So I would like you or someone to tell me that.

Thank you, paola.

Tomoyuki
