CSS and RSPAN

Hi, do not know if this is the right place, so if not, do not hesitate to tell me.

I have to develop a proyect with rspan configurations. If realize just know that in customer network, some CSS (content services switch) are present. As far as I know those devices are related to load balancing, but I do not know much more.

What is the main function of CSSs?

How do they must be configured? As an addition to switch block? Or they are placed instead other switches and make same function as a switch plus load balancing? Do they support rspan?

Please,can anyone tell me something or send me some doc guides, to understand much better their function?
