Dialer watch is used in ISDN to make ISDN work as a backup connection of leased line, frame relay etc.

check below URL to get more information.

hope it helps ... rate if it does ...

1. Dialer watch can be considered as regular DDR with no requirement for interesting traffic, just lost routes. By configuring a set of watched routes that define the primary interface, you are able to monitor and track the status of the primary interface as watched routes are added and deleted.

2. Route tags are simple tags( mark/label) which are used to distinguish between routes. Its an additional chateristics of a route, which is usually local to the router. You can work on selective routes with use use of route-maps & tag of routes.

hi

to bring a backup link up should the primary link fails ,there is so many methods to achieve that.for instance (BACKUP interface/dialer),static floating , and dialer-watch, each of those methods can be used in situation deponding on your needs, the backup monitors the status of the primary link layer1 and 2 if it is down or a predefined threshold-load is reached, the static-float monitors the ip routing table layer 3,the dialer-watch monitor a list of specific routes layer 3, if those disappear from the routing table it will try to reach the network by others mean ,it work with interfaces that have dial capabilities such as isdn.

route tagging can be done by route-map or redistribute commands, when it can be used ??

when you do reditribution between routing protocols there is some situations where you can introduce a feed back routing especialy in topologies where you have two or more boundary router all doing redistribution. so the requirement here is to flag or color the routes redistributed on one router with a tag so that you can recognise them and prohibit them from beeing redistributed back by the other router that is doing redistribution also.

HTH

do rate if it does clarify
