Difference between MPLS & IPLC

Hi,

yesterday there was an arrugmenet between me & my friend, he says that MPLS & IPLC both bandwidth will also be shared by some other users in the following scenario. below are the scenario .

dedicated bandwidth between Location A & B is 2 Mbps on MPLS as well as IPLC, when Location A uses only 1Mbps, what he says is, since the remaining 1Mbps is free, it would be given to some other users who would hav exceed his maximum bandwidth assigned by the SP. so how far it is true?

Re: Difference between MPLS & IPLC

Hi Anand

It totally depends on the service provider who offers you the respective services.

AFAIK in IPLC if you are given 2 Mbps you will be given a TDM pipe on which you can run/do whatever you desire to have.

In case of MPLS network it totally depends on the SP backbone network and the kinda links he owns between his location.

If the SP is having enough bandwidth capacities between all his pops then you will have necessary bandwidth allocated as assured by your SP.

Generally we as a SP out here give as per the contracted bandwidth to our customers...
