Direct connect a 1721 and 1760

Hi,

I just purchased one of each of the above, both with 1ea WIC 1DSU-T1, and would like to connect them directly to each other in a lab scenario.  Do I need to have an RJ48 cable or will an RJ45 work?  I have them connected now, but they are not seeing each other. They are connected via S0 on the 1721 and S1/0 on the 1760.

This is the scenario I am using:

On 1721:

loopback 192.168.1.1/24

Fa0 172.17.1.1/24

S0 10.10.3.1/24

On 1760:

Loopback 192.168.2.1/24

Fa0/0 172.18.1.1/24

S1/0 10.10.4.1/24

On both:

router ospf 1

network 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 area 0

If I missed something, please let me know, or point me to where I can get some more info.

Thanks

I just want to add that the serial interfaces on both routers needs to be configured with ip addresses in same subnet.

I see that 1721 has 10.10.3.1/24 and 1760 has 10.10.4.1/24. Choose one of subnets and use, but not both.

Hope this helps

Eugen

Hi,

You need T1 crossover cable to connect the WIC1DSUs. Search in your favourite engine for cable pinouts. Slightly different than Ethernet crossover.

On one side set the controller to clock source internal and the other side clock source line.

OSPF configuration is fine. It basically enables OSPF on all interfaces.

Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate your input.  I will get the T1 crossover and go from there.

Leonard

Thanks Eugen, on same subnet on the serial links. I overlooked the ip info.

Thx
