If you choose to accept the full routing table from an ISP does it normally include a default route also?

Normally receiving a full BGP routing table would include receiving a default route.

Hello h.parsons,

>> If you choose to accept the full routing table from an ISP does it normally include a default route also?

no, unless explicitly required because it would be used only for temporary unavailable BGP paths (for example for a failure or for BGP dampening)

At least this is the normal setup between providers

So if you would like to received the BGP full table and a default route it is better to tell this to the upstream provider

Hope to help

Parsons,

Good one there..

I would strongly recommend the site below to verify the default routes or any prefixes that you are looking for to.

This really helps in understanding the internet routing hierarchy

You could search based on default, or your ip address or AS over 100's of internet servers..

Have fun..
