DRAM slot in 6509-E with SUP720

Hi,

I am going to upgrade the IOS of a catalyst 6509-E with WS-SUP720-3B in it.

I checked the data sheet of SUP720 and Cisco says "WS-SUP720-3B supports 512MB of DRAM for the route processor and 512 MB for the switch processor, upgradeable to 1GB"

How can I check how much DRAM is used for route processor and how much is used for switch processor?

For the phrase "upgradeable to 1GB", does it mean the DRAM for switch processor only, or both route processor and switch prcessor?

Currently my 6509 has 512MB DRAM. Can I insert one more 512MB DRAM into it? How much DRAM slot is in 6509 with SUP720?

Thanks a lot.

Re: DRAM slot in 6509-E with SUP720

Hello,

use the following reference

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/hardware/Config_Notes/78_15538.html

I think you need to upgrade both RP and SP memories using two 1GB each chips as you see in the picture there are two slots one for RP memory and one for SP memory.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
