I have a DS3 point to point circuit with a 7204 and 3845 on each end. From both ends, when I do a ping, I am only getting a 3 our of 5 successful pings. I had the carrier check the circuit and they claim it's fine. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.
I am wondering about the description of 3 out of 5 and wonder if the pattern is like this:!.!.! or if it is something else. And if the pattern is !.!.! then I wonder if the ping is repeated if the pattern becomes .!.!. (and getting only 2 out of 5). If this is the pattern then it suggests to me that the problem is not an interface or circuit problem but is an issue in the routing table. The pattern results when one device (or perhaps both) have two entries in the routing table - one of which works and the other of which does not.
Perhaps the original poster can post the output showing the ping and post the output of show ip route
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
