"When configure Frame Relay for multipoint connections, use static assignments, map DLCIs to protocol address (IP)" Why can't use dynamic inverse ARP in multipoint?

Hello,

what is probably meant by this is that in a multipoint hub and spoke setup, with dynamic mappings, the spokes would not be able to send traffic to each other, since inverse arp works only for directly connected circuits. In that case, you would need static mappings, in order to have full connectivity.

By the way, and just out of curiosity, are you studying for an exam ? And what book are you using ?

first, there is no "dynamic" inverse ARP. inverse ARP is a dynamic method to map layer 3 addresses with frame relay DLCIs.

with frame relay networks, inverse ARP is enabled by default on multipoint connections( and if you like on all F-R interfaces for cisco IOS > 11.2)

so you don't have to worry about mapping L3 addresses to DLCI.
