E3 to T3 connection

Is it tecnically possible to connect a router with T3 port to a router with E3 port?

Can you give me a detailed explanation of why yes or no?

Thanks a lot!

Re: E3 to T3 connection

Hi,

you could connect them, as typically the connector types are the same. The frame format of E3 and T3 are different, so OSI layer 1 will not sync and interfaces will be down.

So connecting a T3 interface back-to-back to an E3 interface is of no practical use.

There is however hardware which can be configured to be either T3 or E3. Once both sides are the same things should work.

Another option is to have a third device with an E3 and a T3 interface providing connectivity between your routers.

Hope this helps

Martin
