Eigrp -general question

Can EIGRP be used to advertise networks that are not directly connected?

Are there any drawbacks ?

For example:

Local network has routers A,B,C

Remote network has routers D,E,F

The WAN link between C and D connects Local network to Remote network

All routing protocols must be turned off between the two networks to conserve bandwidth

The Local subnet is 192.168.x.x

The Remote subnet is 172.16.x.x

Assuming there are static routes to get across the Wan link,

Could router C (Local) advertise for 172.16.x.x ? and could router D (remote) advertise 192.168.x.x ?

Is this logically sound ? or are there other considerations ?

That is perfectly possible and quite a legitimate use of redistribution when you are trying to connect two EIGRP islands.

This is why redistribution exists !

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
