EIGRP: Handle deallocation failure [1]

I am working with a client that has site-to-site connectivity using a microwave link.  The microwave at each site is connected to a 3750 switch and EIGRP is running across the link.  The EIGRP neighborship is failing roughly 10 times a day.  It goes down briefly (3-4 sec) and then it is brought right back up.  Traffic is barely impacted most of the time but every so often the relationship is down long enough to cause system slowdowns.

I have done some research and it seems like we may need  to change the MTU across this link to something smaller than 1500.  Does anyone have any experience with microwave links and MTU?

Another strange thing I keep getting is the following message in the switch logs: EIGRP: Handle deallocation failure [1].  I can't find any documentation on this error.  Does anyone know what it means?
