enable do1q encap !!

Dear all,

We are trying to enable do1q encap on Fastethernet of 3460 Router

with

IOS c3640-is-mz.122-32.bin

!

interface FastEthernet0/1.1

encapsulation dot1Q 501

ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.252

I put a PC with an IP 192.168.0.2 and connected on FastEthernet0/1.1 .but it's not pinging . We want to connect some

wireless customers on this Port .Wireless Provider needed to enable

dot1Q enacap on interface

Can anyone Can help with the configuration ?? .It's very urgent

Do you attach the pc directly to Fastethernet 0/1 with a crossover cable? That pc will only be able understand the packets from the native (untagged) vlan. vlan 501 packets will be tagged, and only understood by a dot1q trunk (on a switch for example), I think. Is there an ip on the physical Fastethernet 0/1 also?
