guys a quick question abt load balancing.....if we have to switches and have an etherchannel (layer 2) and requirmen tis to do load balance on ip address......now keeping in mind that one switch is 3550 and other is 3560.....3550 doesnt have option of load balance on ip address it has mac-adress.....now we if do mac on 3550 and ip on 3560 will it work....??? th ewhole concept is if two switches have different method still it will work??? thanks

Hi guroo,

Yes, it will work the following way:

- Traffic flowing from the 3550 to the 3560 will be load-balanced by mac-address.

- Traffic flowing from the 3560 towards the 3550 will be load-balanced by ip address.

This means that most probably the load-balancing will not be symmetrical by direction of flow.

Cheers:

Istvan
