Etherchannel question

I have 2 ethernet modules on my 6509, can I configure the etherchannel on 2 ports from different module? for example port 1 from module 1 and another port 1 from module 2.

Yes. Use same speed and duplex mode for both ports.

Hi,

YES you can do ether-channelling one on module 1 & remaining on different modules within the switch. u can also do ether-channelling in a stackable switches as the switches will be considered as 1 single unit.

command for cisco 6509 CatOS as follows.

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 1/1

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 2/1

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 3/1

Cat6509>(enable) set trunk 2/1 on dot1q

Cat6509>(enable) set trunk 2/1 on dot1q

Cat6509>(enable) set trunk 3/1 on dot1q

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 1/1 mode on

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 2/1 mode on

Cat6509>(enable) set port channel 3/1 mode on

Yes, Etherchannel between ports on different modules is supported.

This is a cool feature, since it provides module redundancy.
