Hello

I'm envolved in a students-project at the university of mine. We want to build a closed network to improve our networking skills.

Therefore we bought for little money a cisco 2650 from a company. Our problem is, that there is only one ethernet port on that device. But we need two or more ethernet interfaces for each segment.

We now want to know, which of the huge number of modules and wic's is the right one for us.

Can somenone suggest us an useful and affordable module? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You can use cisco 1841 router, that one is having Two fastethernet port and this one is very cheap and best.

Thanks...Mukesh

Hi there,

Rahter than spend money to get another ethernet interface, you could trunk the interface to a switch and have it as a router on a stick.

Using subinterfaces you can have all the ethernets you'll need. Check out this link for more details:-

Hope that helps

Thans very much royalblues!!!

Sorry for the wrong rating, i wanted to rate the answer above!!! Your answer was really helpful and solved my issue.

Glad to help.

It's worth noting that the trunking on a router is a feature and you will need a specific version of IOS to run it - not a very hight one, usually IP Plus. Have a look at the feature navigator to see if your IOS is supported - or just type in the commands on the router!!
