Failover in static route

There ar two links between our head office and branch. First link is from ISP and the second is a direct link via microwave.

Bad thing is that we are using static routes. Currently traffic are load balanced between the links as the static routes has same admin distance.

We need to configure automatic failover between the links. is it possible to increase the admin distance to 100 for one static route. so that when the primary link goes down automatically the traffic moves to the second link (100 admin distance) and if the primary link comes will automatically switch over to the first linkh cost 1.

Thanks & Regards...

yes this is one option

be the problem here is when the ISP service is down while the link is still up from the router point of view

in this case to make sure you can fail over in any of the situations you can use IP SLA with the Static route

you can use the concept in the bellow document to setup static route with IP SLA ( you may use PBR if you want to )

hope this help
